Study on horizontal behavior of prototype un-bonded fiber reinforced elastomeric isolator
Un-bonded fiber reinforced elastomeric isolator (U-FREI) is a result of the effort for the ease of installation of the seismic isolation technology. U-FREI is installed directly between the substructure and superstructure without any connection at the interfaces. It is relatively new seismic isolator which have been developed in the world. In this study, horizontal behavior of a prototype U-FREI is investigated by finite element analysis. The effectiveness of horizontal behavior of the U-FREI is compared to corresponding bonded isolator.
