Analysis of static wind load for buildings by CFD simulation

Abstract

This paper presents an application of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulation method in determination of static wind load on buildings, specially for buildings with complicated shape in plan and variable form in elevation. The research results show that the static wind loads from CFD simulation have significant difference with those calculated following TCVN 2737-1995. Especially, CFD simulation method can predict the cross wind component which has not been regulated by TCVN 2737-1995. The paper also presents significant effects of adjacent buildings to the analysis results of static wind loads, which have not been clearly mentioned in current Vietnam design standards. This paper presents an application of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulation method in determination of static wind load on buildings, specially for buildings with complicated shape in plan and variable form in elevation.
